21st century cat and mouse games – and a few photgraphy tips 😉

Caspian is such a good mouser, he catches this one every time…

Black cats often get a bad press – and equally often are considered lucky! But many people claim they’re difficult to photograph. To which I would respond is that cats and dogs have a habit of moving at the crucial moment, so be prepared to take a shot at any time, and generally speaking take a few. It’s better to discard 7 of the photos and end up with 2 decent ones. And occasionallly try  a black and white shot as above, making the most of the monochrome!

Close up shots or those framed against a contrasting background work well. Although the background here is not the same, the colour tones blend in gviing an autonomous feel. the pop of yellow background at the top and left matchhighlights those feline eyes. Check the lighting too, to bring out those feline features.

And whilst we’re on the subject of cat and mouse…

First caught by Caspian, found by us under Padme’s bed, and released at the bottom of the garden.

Couple of hours later Mulan brought it into the utility room.

So Rory & I had to rescue it from behind the freezer.

Put it in the front garden this time, so apologies to neighbours if your cat takes it home!!
